From intimate dialogue to dramatic concert music
The concert opens with Brahms's Sonata for Violin and Piano. Warm melodies and a close dialogue between violin and piano take center stage. This is followed by Beethoven's monumental Kreutzer Sonata, in which virtuosity and drama predominate. From the opening movement to the tempestuous conclusion, Beethoven demands the utmost from both musicians. In this way, you hear how the repertoire for violin and piano evolved from intimate chamber music to large-scale concert music.
