Duo for two trumpets
Gerardo Gianolio and Amir Rabinovitz perform a duo program for two trumpets. The program combines Baroque works by Handel, Purcell, and Telemann with virtuos virtuoso duets by composers such as Arban and Voxman. In this way, styles and atmospheres alternate, from festive Baroque fanfares to lyrical chamber music.
Natural trumpet and modern trumpet
What makes this concert special is that the musicians switch between natural trumpets and modern trumpets. The natural trumpet has no keys and sounds warmer and fuller, characteristic of the Baroque. By switching between the two instruments, the timbre constantly changes. This gives you, as a listener, a direct impression of the sound world of different eras.
The musicians
Amir Rabinovitz studied modern trumpet in Aarhus and historical trumpet at a renowned institution. He plays with, among others, Ton Koopman's Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. Gerardo Gianolio worked with the Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble and the Mahler Academy Orchestra and recently won a position at a leading academy.
