The grand Annual Gala of the Concertgebouw Orchestra begins with a reception at 7:30 PM; after the gala concert, everyone is welcome in the foyers of the Concertgebouw to meet each other and the musicians, and to enjoy the afterparty until midnight.

Klaus Mäkelä & Lisa Batiashvili

Klaus Mäkelä has a deep connection with the music of Jean Sibelius, the man who single-handedly put Finland on the musical map. Sibelius actually wanted to become a violinist. That didn't happen, but it did result in a violin concerto that leaves no one unmoved. Lisa Batiashvili has been one of our most beloved guest soloists for 25 years – and for good reason! Be there as she tackles Sibelius's enigmatic Violin Concerto .

Beethoven's Symphony No. 7

Beethoven's irresistibly rhythmic Seventh Symphony radiates an unprecedented vitality. The premiere in 1813 was one of the greatest successes of Beethoven's life. The audience wanted to hear the second movement again immediately – it soon took on a life of its own and still pops up in films and TV series. Indeed, 200 years after his death, Beethoven is still everywhere, and we can't get enough of it.
