12th Annual Hanukkah Concert – Freedom!

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, is one of the oldest and most beloved traditions within Jewish culture. For the twelfth time, we cordially invite you to celebrate Hanukkah in the Main Hall of the Concertgebouw. On the second evening of Hanukkah, we will collectively light the menorah – the traditional eight-branched candelabra – on stage. This will be followed by a festive and varied musical program featuring international guest musicians and the Jewish Amsterdam Chamber Ensemble. This special evening is intended to inspire and connect a broad audience. Both Jewish and non-Jewish visitors are warmly welcome to celebrate the festival of light, music, culture, and freedom together.

Musicians and repertoire

In light of the societal challenges facing Europe and the rest of the world today, this year’s program is dedicated to the universal theme of freedom – a celebration of resilience, identity, culture, and hope. As every year, the Jewish Amsterdam Chamber Ensemble presents a rich and varied program featuring Jewish, Israeli, classical, and contemporary music. Additionally, we are delighted to welcome Barry Mehler back as musical director and Noa Eyl as concertmaster (Stehgeiger). Leo Samama is once again associated with the concert as patron.

Snacks

The Hanukkah concert offers more than just music. Included in the price is a delicious Hanukkah treat such as a 'sufganiyot', comparable to a Berliner doughnut. You can also enjoy a glass of kosher wine.
