This self-guided food tour takes you on a gastronomical journey to taste the “must-eat” dishes at 7 beloved local food stores in this iconic neighbourhood.

De Jordaan – home to the Anne Frank House and Westerchurch – is a gem in Amsterdam’s bustling city centre. Known for its quirky architecture, charming canals and buzzy vibes, this formerly impoverished neighbourhood has become an artistic and exciting district. But the signature warm and humorous Jordanese attitude and delicious flavours remain. 

What's on the menu?

From traditional Jordanese sandwiches and sausages to authentic Dutch cheeses, one of the best apple pies in Amsterdam, and so much more. Explore the delicious food culture of De Jordaan and enjoy the best authentic Dutch and “Jordanese” dishes in around 2 hours.

  • Visit a beloved local eatery that was the preferred lunch hotspot of iconic Jordanesel musicians and try a traditional “Jordanese” sandwich with various toppings to choose from. Pick between Jordanese Meatball and Mustard, Filet American (smashed steak tartar), Hindustani Chicken (spiced chicken) or a vegetarian option of cheese and vegetables. You can also enjoy Dutch "Poffertjes" (baby pancakes) with butter and icing sugar every Wednesday and Saturday. 

  • Enjoy a sampling of 4 different kinds of authentic Dutch cheeses served with a dollop of mustard. From young to mature, old and truffle cheeses, handpicked and aged by a true cheese connoisseur. 

  • Sweeten your taste buds with traditional Italian ice cream with 30 flavours to choose from. Brought to you by one of the most famous ice cream makers in Amsterdam and beyond. 

  • Sink your teeth into a sampling of 3 different kinds of traditional Dutch sausage slices from a legendary local butcher. Grilled sausage with Gouda cheese, lightly-smoked beef sausage and liver sausage with bacon bits. 

  • Taste one of the best Dutch apple pies in Amsterdam from a historic 200-year-old brown cafe 

  • Enjoy a combo of Dutch herring and kibbeling (fried cod). Served with onions and pickles (optional).

  • End with a delicious drink and slider combo created by a renowned local chef at a unique Amsterdam concept store. Choose between Pork Belly, Pulled Chicken or Crispy Chicken. A vegetarian option is available. For drinks, your options are coffee, soda, beer or a glass of Cava.

To join this experience, you must reserve a time slot in advance. This experience runs Tuesday to Saturday between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm. Book your time slot via this link.
