Queer Amsterdam, The Pink City
In 1632, Amsterdam’s Nieuwe Kerk was the site of one of the city’s earliest recorded—though illegal—same-sex marriages. Nearly four centuries later, the historic Gothic church will once again play a significant role in LGBTQI+ history by hosting a flagship exhibition for WorldPride 2026. The exhibition traces the story of Amsterdam’s LGBTQI+ community and commemorates 25 years of marriage equality in the Netherlands. Each year, the Nieuwe Kerk also presents “Pride Talk” on the eve of Pride Week, inviting a leading international activist to address issues affecting queer communities around the world.

Badass Tours: Amsterdammers who broke the rules
Join a walking tour to learn about the hidden badasses of history. Learn all about the BIPOC, female, Jewish and LGBTQIA Amsterdammers who have made this city what it is. Each walk is tailored to a particular theme and interest, highlighting artists, revolutionaries, fighters and more. All City Card holders can book the Queer Heroes for Amsterdam Pride tour free of charge on a range of datesfeatured on the website. The tour focuses on incredible people and uplifting stories and features international stories as well, without stories of violence or homophobia.
Martine Gutierrez Wunderkind at Huis Marseille
Housed within two seventeenth-century canal houses, Huis Marseille presents a solo exhibition by a transgender American visual artist and former child prodigy, whose first solo exhibition took place when she was just eight years old. TitledWunderkind—the German word for someone who achieves remarkable success at a young age—the exhibition is a deeply personal exploration of memory, femininity, and self-discovery. Drawing on the artist’s own experiences, it features toys, dresses, and other objects from her childhood.

Love on the Canals - 30 Years of Canal Parade
Through photographs, art, and personal testimonies, the Grachtenmuseum’s latest exhibition traces the evolution of Amsterdam’s Canal Parade from a local celebration into a globally recognised symbol of visibility, pride, and inclusion. Developed in collaboration with Gijs Stork—an Amsterdam-based cultural organiser whose work bridges art, culture, and community-building—the exhibition centers queer art.

Drag in Amsterdam
Discover the history of drag in Amsterdam: from seventeenth-century theatre to club culture, activism and Pride. The exhibition takes you through the diversity of drag culture and shows how drag has developed in Amsterdam. It also explores the role of drag in activism: from benefit shows and safer sex education during the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and 1990s to the visibility of drag artists at protests and Pride events.
