Unique places to stay in the Amsterdam Area

Here’s our selection of superlative lodgings that offer the perfect base for discovering the Amsterdam Area. And when you book don’t forget to grab an Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket, which allows you to explore all the iconic sights and scenery of the Amsterdam Area for one, two or three consecutive days.

Stay at a hotel unlike any other

You don’t even have to check-in at the Hotel Zaandam before feeling the excitement of a stay there. That’s because one of its biggest draws is the jaw-dropping exterior, which looks like it’s torn straight from the pages of a fantastical fairy-tale, or that the builders stacked a load of multicoloured traditional Dutch houses on top of each other. Venture in, however, and you’ll discover a modern, 4-star hotel which boasts comfortable rooms (including the luxurious Tsar Peter suite), a large swimming pool, spa, a restaurant which serves dishes crafted with locally sourced ingredients and an interior which pays tribute to Zaandam’s industrial past. Also, it’s the perfect place to explore the windmills, churches and old-fashioned farmhouses of traditional Old Holland

Every room has a story to tell at the magnificent Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg Country Estate. Whether you fancy bedding down in a suite or even a patio room in the new hotel wing, you’re guaranteed a level of luxury fit for a king. There’s also a modern spa offering a range of cutting-edge treatments, a picturesque English garden to explore, and you’re just a stone’s throw from the exceptional natural beauty of National Park Zuid-Kennemerland.

But don’t let the castle's grand guise fool you, as the hotel is in fact a Stayokay hostel, and perfectly affordable for the budget-conscious. It also offers the perfect opportunity to explore the perfectly preserved traditional houses and windmills of Zaanse Schans, or scenic Old Holland.
