Doopsgezinde Singelkerk

Since 1530, Amsterdam has been a center of Mennonite activity. Initially, they meet in the houses of private individuals.

When the public church (the Calvinists) more or less tolerated the Mennonites at the beginning of the 17th century, the Mennonites occupied the first church buildings, also known as exhortations. The church is a perfect example of a so-called hidden church: a church that is not recognizable as such from the street.
