Waiting for Marsha (Wachten op Marsha)
New York, 1969. In a bar filled with music, color, and tension, the frustration of the queer community escalates into the Stonewall riots: a moment that becomes the starting point of the international struggle for equal rights and visibility. More than fifty years later, that history is not over. In Waiting for Marsha, the past is not only commemorated but mirrored against the present, in which queer rights are once again up for debate and safety is not a given. Waiting for Marsha takes place from July 28 to 31 at the International Theatre Amsterdam. The language of this play is Dutch but, on July 30 & 31 the play has surtitles in English.
