Fair internet for everyone

The internet is not always fair. Big tech companies often set the rules. At the PublicSpaces conference, we talked about how things can be different. It is not just about problems but about solutions. Technology is not a force of nature — we can choose how we use and organize it. You do not always have to go along with the biggest apps or platforms, especially if they do not handle your data well.

On the program

Today, you will hear from artists, politicians, programmers, and policymakers about how things can be done differently. They will show you alternatives and how to recognise fake news, for example. More and more people are working on a fairer internet in the Netherlands and other countries. During the conference, they will meet to share knowledge and work together. This is how the network of people who want the internet to belong to everyone, not just big companies, grows.
