Ballet and urban dance on one stage
In Swan Lake Remixed for ADE, two dance worlds meet. Dancers from the Dutch National Ballet and the Junior Company share the stage with performers from ISH Dance Collective and guest dancers from various dance styles. Artistic Director Ernst Meisner (Dutch National Ballet) and Marco Gerris (ISH Dance Collective) connect classical ballet and urban dance into a single performance.
A classic story in a new guise
The story of Swan Lake revolves around longing, freedom, and the tension between light and dark. These themes are just as relevant today as they were when Tchaikovsky composed the music. Questions about identity, freedom, and boundaries resonate in the movements of a total of 35 dancers from the Dutch National Ballet, supplemented by 12 performers from ISH and 5 guest dancers.
Electronic music and digital images
Composer Rik Ronner writes original electronic music for the performance. Ben Kreukniet handles the lighting design and video. Costume designer Oliver Haller gives the dancers their visual identity. Together, they create an environment where classical and contemporary elements reinforce each other.
The Gashouder as a backdrop
The performance takes place in the Gashouder in Amsterdam, an industrial monument that serves as a permanent venue for major events. The space lends the production a special atmosphere. Are you interested? Use the link to arrange your tickets.
