Muze van Zuid
Music festival Muze van Zuid is preparing for a seventh edition. The music festival introduces the public to new composers from the Renaissance to the present. They form the Netherlands' musical heart, yet their music is heard relatively little. During this edition, music by Dutch composers can be heard in 30 concerts, music walks and events by more than 60 musicians on squares and streets, living rooms, parks, churches and monuments in Amsterdam South.
Muze van Zuid
Four days of music in old and new neighbourhoods
During the sixth edition, the Muze van Zuid celebrates four days of musical discovery in various new neighbourhoods: Olympiabuurt, Sarphatipark and surrounding houses. Muze van Zuid is moving further south than ever: Amstelpark and Zuidoost.
The festival celebrates the musical heritage of our music life with dozens of top musicians. As usual, they play classical, jazz and special folk music in the Concertgebouwbuurt, around the Vondelpark, around the Roelof Hartplein, in De Pijp and the Diamantbuurt.
They go even deeper into the neighbourhood during this edition. They bring music to people with disabilities (in collaboration with care institutions). They reach people who can no longer afford to visit the regular halls. The festival brings live music in neighbourhood centres, streets and squares at a high level for an affordable price.
Musical walks
Join the music walks during the festival. The guides will receive you outside at a beautiful spot, for example, the Obrechtkerk or the Groengemaal in the Sarphatipark. From there, the walk continues through leafy parks and streets towards the concert, while the guide tells beautiful stories and anecdotes about musicians, composers and the musical life of Amsterdam.
In addition to the familiar house concerts and music walks in the Concertgebouwbuurt, there are also concerts in De Pijp. New stages have been found in the Sarphatipark and the beautiful houses around it. In addition, we are bringing music to and around the Willem de Zwijgerkerk in the Olympiabuurt for the first time and we will be moving further south than ever on Thursday, 14 September, as far as the Amstel and Zuidoost.
