About Jugaad

Jugaad is more than a word. It's an act of being, doing and surviving that South Asians grow up with. Today, the word sits in the Oxford English Dictionary and is recognised far beyond its Punjabi and Sanskrit origins, naming an everyday intelligence of getting by and getting it done.

The selected artists and makers trace how jugaadi thinking has travelled beyond South Asia, into other cultures, reflexes and languages, reimagining what it can mean and where it can go.

United under the spirit of D-I-Y (do it yourself), the fair brings together newly received zines, prints and books carefully selected from an open call, alongside archives from both SAC Art Amsterdam and Mama Magnet, from 2020 to the present.
