Cinema The Pulse and Bar Restaurant Lucy are the new gems in Amsterdam Zuid that opened less than a year ago. Together, they are a place for everyone who loves film, culture, good food, and meeting people. In the cinema, you can see a selection of short films curated by Shortcutz Amsterdam.

Think animation, documentary, and fiction. The stories are personal, surprising, moving, and enjoyable for young and old. For example, you will see an animated film about a woman who feels better understood by flies than by people. You will also see a film about a special encounter between two lonely people. The program showcases how creative and diverse new Dutch filmmakers are.

All the short films together last about 45 minutes. The program is shown repeatedly throughout the afternoon, for four hours. So you can walk in at any time to watch part or all of it.

Open Mic

In addition to the films, there is also music. From 16:00 to 17:00, everyone can play their own music at an Open Mic in Bar Restaurant Lucy. Want to join in? Then sign up at the bar from 15:45. Of course, you are also welcome throughout the afternoon to grab a bite to eat, have a drink, and chat about the films.

Shortcutz Amsterdam

Shortcutz Amsterdam is a platform that has supported new Dutch filmmakers for over 14 years. Through weekly film screenings, talks, and talent development, Shortcutz helps new talent on their way.

Cinema The Pulse and Bar Restaurant Lucy are both located in The Pulse building, where people live, work, and go out. They are open all day: from breakfast to dinner. Here, everything revolves around stories: on the big screen and off it. Their program blurs the lines between film and real life. In addition to watching films, there is room for conversations, presentations, festivals, premieres, and other gatherings.
