An exceptional artistic encounter

For the first time in the Netherlands, 22 monumental contemporary works by Lita Cabellut (1961) enter into a penetrating dialogue with the 22 mysterious etchings from Los Disparates (The Follies) by Francisco de Goya (1746–1828). Two artists, two centuries apart, meet in an exhibition that challenges the visitor to look further.

Goya depicts a world of madness, political chaos, and moral decay. Cabellut responds to this with powerful, monumental paintings, sculptures, and installations in which identity, power, fear, and ethics take center stage. Her interpretations make clear how relevant Goya's confrontational visual language remains today.

Through the characters in her work, Cabellut portrays human vulnerability. She presents herself as socially critical and holds up a mirror to humanity. An exhibition that confronts, moves, and invites reflection on the world of today.
