Pergolesi's Stabat mater & Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus

They are often called the two 'pièces de résistance' for countertenor: the moving and beloved Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and the equally beloved Nisi Dominus by Vivaldi (with the beautiful 'Cum Dederit'). Pergolesi's Stabat Mater would become the most reprinted composition of the eighteenth century! The world-famous soloists Alexander Chance and Silvia Frigato will ensure an unforgettable performance. Silvia will also sing the virtuosic Laudate pueri Dominum by Vivaldi. The orchestra will play two instrumental works: a cello concerto by Vivaldi and the famous 'La Follia' by Geminiani.

Alexander Chance has quickly risen to become one of the world's leading countertenors. And no wonder, when one of his teachers is his father, Michael Chance… Alexander has worked with the Netherlands Bach Society in the St Matthew Passion and the Freiburger Barockorchester in Tamerlano , among others. The renowned soprano Silvia Frigato has a long and distinguished career and has worked with John Eliot Gardiner and Rinaldo Alessandrini, among others. Il Gardellino belongs to the select group of world-famous Baroque ensembles.
