About OUT Ensemble
OUT Ensemble, based in the United States, is a wind quintet of LGBTQ+ musicians performing and commissioning the works of queer composers. By increasing representation of the queer community in classical music, the quintet hopes to inspire audiences to embrace their authentic identities and bring classical music into communities across the globe. Alongside uplifting queer composers of the past, OUT highlights works by contemporary queer composers.
Enjoy a program exploring the breadth of wind quintet colors, ranging from the sultry sounds of jazz to the exuberant joy of celebration. OUT Ensemble is excited to premiere a new transcription of Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans' String Quartet, transcribed by oboist Abigail Bracken. The program also features the international premieres of two new commissions by Nora Farley and Mattie Levy.
- Billy Strayhorn/Avi Randall - Lush Life (1933/2024)
- Nora Farley - I cannot meet the Spring unmoved (2025)
- Henriëtte Bosmans/Abigail Bracken - String Quartet (1927/2026) World premiere
- Samuel Barber - Summer Music (1956)
- Mattie Levy - A Winter Wind (2026)
