In the Dutch film YOURI, Ukrainian pianist Illia Fialko steps into the shoes of the legendary pianist Youri Egorov. Tonight, Illia, who graduated with a perfect 10 from the Amsterdam Conservatory, presents his own interpretations of pieces from the film in the Kleine Zaal.

Illia Fialko

In 2025, Ukrainian pianist Illia Fialko, who at the time was in the final year of his master's program at the Amsterdam Conservatory, was given the unique opportunity to perform as a stand-in for Youri Egorov in the Dutch film YOURI . The film tells the story of the friendship between two artists: Jan Brokken and Youri Egorov. Illia had to study Youri's interpretations, body language, and tempos to align with Egorov's recordings used in the film. Tonight, Illia steps out of Youri Egorov's shadow and presents his own interpretations of the pieces from the film.

Graduated with a 10

Illia Fialko moved to the Netherlands in 2018 after graduating from the special music school named after Lysenko in Kyiv, where he was taught in the class of Boris Fedorov. After participating in the recordings in 2025, he graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory with a perfect score of 10 for his final exam in the class of Professor Naum Grubert. Today, Illia performs throughout the Netherlands and looks forward to sharing this beautiful program during his debut recital in the Small Hall of the Concertgebouw.
