Jazz, neo-soul and free improvisation
TJ's Pretty People is the project of violinist and frontwoman Teddy Sicking. She combines violin, effects, synths, and vocals into a distinctive sound that is difficult to pigeonhole into a single genre. The music moves between jazz, neo-soul, and free improvisation, with influences from fusion and classical music. Artists like Hiatus Kaiyote give an impression of the direction, but TJ's Pretty People sounds like nothing else.
A band with stage experience
The band performed at the Bimhuis and at Nacht van de Viool, and reached the finals of several jazz and talent competitions. In 2026, Teddy Sicking won the Conservatorium Talent Award. Alongside her, Mikołaj Tarczynski plays guitar, Anton Goudsmit bass, and Jesper van den Eijnden drums.
Grachtenfestival as a stage
The concert takes place in De Nederlandsche Bank, one of the special venues used by the Grachtenfestival every year. The festival makes classical and contemporary music accessible to a broad audience, spread across unique locations in Amsterdam.
