Alternative R&B with poetic songwriting
Swan, the artist pseudonym of Femke Groen, distinguishes herself within Alternative R&B with a direct yet poetic writing style. Her songs combine refined harmonies with groovy productions. In her music, she encourages listeners to view vulnerability as strength. Lyrics and visuals are often closely intertwined in her creative process, allowing her work to go beyond just a musical experience.
From conservatory to big stage
Swan grew up in Purmerend, studied pop music at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and graduated in 2023. She has already opened for Jeangu Macrooy and soul legend Gladys Knight at the Royal Theatre Carré, and performed at North Sea Jazz. In 2025, she released her debut album Underneath My Façade , produced together with Perquisite.
New work and the Wertheimpark
Alongside her debut album, Swan worked on her second EP, Safety Net , a collaboration with American producer Anwar Sawyer. During the Grachtenfestival, she will perform her music in the Wertheimpark in Amsterdam.
