Beethoven on the walking route through the Flevopark Amsterdam
The Grachtenfestival Ensemble 2026 performs a special version of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony along a 5-kilometer walking route through the Flevopark in Amsterdam. The music has been custom-made for this route and for the ensemble's unique instrumentation: clarinet, trombone, accordion, percussion, violin, cello, and double bass. This allows you to hear the symphony in places where it normally does not happen.
The Grachtenfestival Ensemble 2026
The ensemble was assembled via an Open Call in collaboration with the Musical Instrument Fund. A selection of young musicians forms a permanent ensemble for this summer. They work together on new repertoire and special concert formats in unexpected locations. After this concert, they will perform again later in the festival with a special program among the carnivorous plants in the Hortus Botanicus.
