Romantic piano music during the Amsterdam Canal Festival
Alfredo van de Munt presents a program featuring three major works from the Romantic era. The concert begins with Schubert’s Drei Klavierstücke , a series of pieces that alternate calm with abrupt shifts in mood. This is followed by Chopin’s Second Sonata in B minor , built around the famous funeral march, with an alternation of tension and stillness.
Virtuoso ending with Liszt
The program concludes with Liszt's Réminiscences de Norma , a technically demanding arrangement of Bellini's opera. This work demonstrates what the piano is capable of in the hands of a skilled pianist: from lyrical melodic lines to exuberant, dramatic passages.
