Puruñeka Duo presents a percussion program at the RAI Amsterdam in which rhythm, movement, and repetition take center stage. Tirso Ortis Garrígos and Matiss Leo Meckl perform works by Philip Glass, Minoru Miki, and Anders Koppel, among others, on marimba and vibraphone. The duo won the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours in 2026.

Percussion concert with marimba and vibraphone

Puruñeka Duo presents a program in which rhythm, movement, and repetition take center stage. On marimba and vibraphone, Tirso Ortis Garrígos and Matiss Licis perform works by Gyorgy Ligeti and others. The spatial setting of the RAI enhances the physical aspect of the music: from静止 patterns to direct energy in pieces such as Toccata and TableTalk .

A duo with an interdisciplinary approach

Tirso Ortis Garrígos (Spain) and Matiss Licis (Iceland) met at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. The duo focuses on new forms of percussion performance, often in collaboration with dancers, choreographers, and visual artists. In 2025, they realized a large-scale project featuring 6 composed works, 2 choreographies, and a collaboration with students from the Royal Academy of Visual Arts.

Winner of the Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition 2026
