Many Amsterdammers do not have a garden and have to make do with a balcony. But luckily, the city has the Fruittuin van West. Owners Wil and Lisan wanted to create a place where city and nature come together, where the locals can connect with farm life.

In addition to the farm, the greenhouses and stables, there is a huge fruit garden here to pick your own products of nature. The garden is full of raspberry and blackberry bushes, apple trees, cherry trees, pear trees, and various currant bushes. But you will also find nectarines, strawberries, cranberries and grapes here. In Winter, you can also pick in the 'hickory cave' or the shiitake greenhouses.

Afterwards, all fruit is weighed and settled. Prices vary per type of fruit, which can also be found in advance on the website. Full bag? Settle down for a coffee in the Garden Café.

For the Fruittuin van West you have to go far west, in Nieuw-West, until close to Halfweg.
