The Orphanage is a beautiful 16th-century building in the centre of Monnickendam. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was an orphanage, but it has now been converted into a charming tearoom that serves all sorts of warm drinks and hot snacks. There are also glass and wood workshops onsite where you can shop for beautiful handcrafted items.
This former orphanage is now a tea room that serves up delicious homemade apple pie, tasty sandwiches and a smorgasbord of activities...and it's all for a good cause. The Orphanage is run by the Philadelphia Foundation, an organisation that supports people with disabilities throughout the Netherlands
