Theatre with a touch of circus magic

GRRRimlach is a poetic, non-verbal performance for children full of theater, dance, and music. With humor, imagination, and a touch of circus magic, Teatro Munganga tells a beautiful story about friendship, resilience, and finding the light again in difficult moments.

Lost smile
In an accessible and playful way, GRRRimlach makes themes such as aging, loss, and care discussable for young children. The story: Mr. Karel worries about his best friend, Mr. Piet. Mr. Piet is a bit sick, grumpy, and angry. He seems to find no joy in anything anymore and constantly stares into a deep, black hole, searching for his lost smile. Mr. Karel tries everything to cheer up his friend, but nothing seems to work. How do you get someone who rejects everything to laugh again? Slowly, Mr. Piet is confronted with his sadness, but also with the beautiful moments he once experienced. Carefully, he finds a place for his pain, and a smile begins to grow again.
Teatro Munganga
From 1987 to 2013, Teatro Munganga produced 28 theatre productions, visual performances and stories for young and old. In 2013, the Busganga was created, an old Connexxion bus that was transformed into a mobile theatre hall. In 2014, founders Carlos Lagoeiro (70) and Cláudia Maoli (67) transformed their location at Schinkelhavenstraat 27 into a theatre hall: the current Teatro Munganga.
In recent years, Teatro Munganga has been primarily active in organizing events in the fields of theater, dance, and music. With GRRRimlach, Lagoeiro and Maoli return to the stage with a performance that is as vulnerable as it is hopeful, and that playfully introduces children to big emotions.
