Live music, satire and a lightning-fast way of storytelling

Inspired by the true story of the Anabaptists who seized power in Münster in 1534, the performance follows Jan Bockelson, a failed tailor, pub owner and performer who finds a new stage in religious radicalism. While the city is under siege, Jan introduces increasingly opportunistic interpretations of what God might want: obedience, punishment, polygamy, orgies with nuns and beautiful clothes for himself.

With live music, satire and a lightning-fast way of storytelling by the entire ensemble, Münster connects the Reformation with today's influencer culture: a world in which authority is crumbling and truth becomes a matter of interpretation. A new technology – the printing press – makes it possible to spread any form of nonsense as the word of God.
