Nu het nog kan Burger Koekoek

“We are not in the same boat. But we are in the same storm.” One person sells their villa and moves to a better place, another loses access to clean water and has to flee. Climate disruption is not felt equally everywhere or by everyone. You can see what this means during this performance at Theater Bellevue.

Music that can and wants to connect east and west
That is why Burger Koekoek is collaborating with the Iranian multi-instrumentalist and daf virtuoso Farid Sheek, and the Iranian singer and oud and tar player Reza Mirjalali. After all, Burger Koekoek does not want to talk about the people who are hit hardest by the climate catastrophe, but rather engage with that story together with them.
With their background as migrants from Iran, Sheek and Mirjalali bring a completely different sound and story. Both their musical background and their personal story promise to deliver nothing less than a theatrical and musical spectacle in which the complexity and fundamental unfairness of the climate crisis is told in a completely new and inclusive way.
Farid Sheek has played with numerous others, from the Residentie Orkest and Noordpoolorkest, to Gordafarid and Bert Visscher. Reza Mirjalali has won numerous international composer awards and tries to connect east and west with his music.
