Soldier testimonies on attacks on Gaza
In Naza, 24 Israeli soldiers have their say. On the rooftops of Tel Aviv, they talk about their experiences at night. Step by step, it becomes clear how the army and intelligence services determine who is a target, which technologies play a role in this, and how many civilian casualties an attack is allowed to cost. Dozens to sometimes hundreds of Palestinian civilians can count as an acceptable price for eliminating 1 target.
The meaning behind the title
The title Naza refers to the Hebrew military term Nezek Agavi, which means 'collateral damage': the expected number of civilian casualties of an airstrike. With this, the film poses a poignant question: how can the killing of civilians become so normalized that it is no longer seen as a moral or legal problem?
