A night in the New York underworld
Good Time by the Safdie brothers follows 1 desperate night in the life of small-time criminal Connie Nikas, played by Robert Pattinson. After a botched bank robbery, his younger brother Nick gets arrested. Connie sets out alone to free him and ends up in one dangerous situation after another. The film was shot on 35mm and is drenched in neon light.
Brotherly love under pressure
Behind the harsh, fast-paced images lies a story about brotherly devotion. Connie does everything for Nick, but his choices backfire. Good Time paints a portrait of two brothers who get stuck in circumstances they barely understand. The film shows empathy for people at the bottom of society, without glorifying their situation.
Style and soundtrack
The pulsating electronic music by Oneohtrix Point Never gives the film a feverish energy. Directors Josh and Benny Safdie are known for their raw, street-oriented style. With Good Time, they confirm their reputation as innovative filmmakers. Are you interested? Tickets are available via the booking link.
