A classic from the nineties on the big screen
Clueless from 1995 is one of the most recognizable teen films of its generation. Director Amy Heckerling based the story on Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma. She moved the setting to Beverly Hills, the domain of the wealthy high school student Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone. The film is known for its sharp humor, iconic fashion, and timeless themes of friendship and self-knowledge.
Spoiled but with a heart
At first, Cher seems superficial: she is preoccupied with shopping, her appearance, and social life at school. Yet a warm-hearted story unfolds when she takes a new classmate under her wing. Her well-intentioned meddling does not always go as planned, and slowly she discovers more about herself than she had expected.
