Before the Story Starts is an experimental, immersive one-man performance by Thomas Dudkiewicz. The performance takes place on the threshold before a story begins. Dudkiewicz travels through the subconscious of the universe, searching for answers to questions that may have no answer. The performance is performed entirely in English.

Surrealism and philosophy as a common thread

Inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , Being John Malkovich , and the philosopher Alan Watts, the performance has a surreal structure. You encounter cryptic hosts, capricious guides, and encounter philosophical dead ends. Dudkiewicz unravels his own alter egos and explores how meaning emerges.

Questions without an answer

Why do people tell stories? And what happens when you are confronted with the possibility that there is no answer? These questions are central to this performance. It is not a straightforward evening of theatre, but an invitation to think along at the boundary of meaning and the unknown.
