Paul Kalkbrenner: live techno as an art form

Paul Kalkbrenner is not a DJ who plays other people's records. He plays his own music live, behind his machines. Kalkbrenner grew up in Berlin, in the midst of the rise of the techno scene after the fall of the Wall. That shaped him into the artist he is today: someone who makes melodic, cinematic techno music with depth and emotion. His single Sky and Sand spent 129 weeks on the German charts.

A live set with original productions

What sets Kalkbrenner apart is his performance. He breaks his tracks down into individual elements and reassembles them on stage. As a result, every set sounds different from the last. You hear familiar songs in a new context, driven by energy and emotion. This is not a show with extra spectacle, but music that speaks for itself.

Loveland x ADE in Theater Amsterdam

This performance takes place as part of Amsterdam Dance Event, the international festival and congress for electronic music. Loveland, a fixture in the Dutch dance scene since 1995, is organizing this evening at Theater Amsterdam. The venue is located in the Westelijke Houthavens, directly on the IJ, and combines high technical standards with a unique atmosphere.
