An important part of the exhibition is the collection of historic Dutch ship engines.
Back in time
The showpiece is the legendary Kromhout 12 hp petrol engine. A smithy has also been set up, as it was a hundred years ago. On request, the blacksmith's fire is stoked here and demonstrations of forging and riveting take place, according to the old techniques. The museum is located on the grounds of shipyard `t Kromhout, one of the oldest shipyards in Amsterdam. Shipbuilding and repair have been taking place here since the 17th century. Around 1890 the yard was covered with two characteristic flowing iron roofs, which have been preserved as an industrial monument. An old steam winch can also be seen.
The association's objective is to preserve the cultural and industrial heritage. The museum is run entirely by volunteers. The museum hall can be rented for events.
