The place to engage in conversation with one another
The Gaasperfestival originated from a simple idea: a great deal happens in Gaasperdam, but not everyone knows what there is to find and do. The festival brings this together in one place. Residents can walk around the information market, get to know local initiatives and, above all: engage in conversation with one another.
Various social initiatives present themselves at the market. They are given the space to talk about what they do and what they can mean for residents. At the same time, residents can ask their own questions, share ideas or simply get to know someone from the neighbourhood.
It is precisely this person-to-person encounter that is central, because connection in a neighbourhood does not arise only through organisations offering something, but especially when residents actually get to know each other.
In addition to the social organisations, various local entrepreneurs are present. They show their products and offer them to visitors. In this way, different sides of Gaasperdam come together: from social initiatives to entrepreneurship and from local residents to organisations.
