About Chris Rijk

Chris Rijk is known for his playful ceramic works in which he combines the rich tradition of Delft Blue with imagery from pop and queer culture and fragments of everyday life.

Transformed objects

Through hand-painted motifs, he transforms classic forms such as plates, vases, and decorative objects into personal expressions often with a socio-critical undertone. Themes such as identity, masculinity, and consumer culture feature prominently in his work. In this new solo exhibition, he presents his versatile collection, ranging from painted vases and small plates to playful tiles and golden butt plugs.
