Two Distinctive Voices in Indian Art

Jangarh Singh Shyam (1962–2001), from the Pardhan community in Madhya Pradesh, developed a distinctive visual language known as Jangarh Kalam. His intricate drawings, composed of dots, lines, and patterns, depict animals, plants, and birds. Sanjeev Sinha (1963–2020) was a pioneer of contemporary Indian art in the 1980s and 1990s. His colourful paintings and sculptures combine influences from Hindu and Buddhist narratives with expressive human and animal forms.

An Exceptional Collection, Brought Together for the First Time

SAC Art Amsterdam presents a selection of original works on paper and canvas from a private Dutch collection. Discover signed pen-and-ink drawings by Jangarh Singh Shyam alongside oil and acrylic paintings by Sanjeev Sinha. The works of these two artists are brought together here for the first time and are available for purchase. A rare opportunity to explore two distinct artistic worlds within modern and contemporary Indian art.
