GAPP – the rooftop terrace where Amsterdam comes together
This is where you celebrate the city — sun on your face, wind in your hair, and views stretching across Amsterdam. The rooftop garden feels like an urban backyard for locals: a laidback escape where you can just as easily drop by for lunch, afternoon drinks or a long summer evening with your crew.
On the menu: generous sandwiches, comforting hot dishes like chicken satay, flammkuchen and the double Gabbe burger — plus plenty of classic Dutch bar snacks to share. It’s all about keeping things simple and fun — just like a neighbourhood bar should be, only elevated to the 8th floor.
This is where you go with your friends. Where you toast. Where Amsterdam is celebrated, all the way into sunset.
An urban garden for Amsterdam locals
The story of Hotel Casa begins in 1957, with four friends and one dream: to create affordable student housing in Amsterdam. One of them was Gabbe Scheltema — a true Amsterdammer, deeply involved until the very end. GAPP is a tribute to this local legend, whose spirit lives on in this rooftop garden high above the city.
