Vivaldi's violin concertos

The collection L'estro Armonico , a collection of twelve violin concertos published in Amsterdam in 1711, is a highlight of Vivaldi's oeuvre and a milestone in the development of the violin concerto. This popular music collection helped spread the Italian Baroque style throughout Europe and influenced composers such as Bach, who arranged several concertos from this collection, such as the Eighth Concerto for Two Violins played here. The Tenth Concerto for Four Violins is also performed.

A baroque evening that transcends time

From Pachelbel’s famous Canon en Gigue in D to Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in E and Leclair’s virtuos virtuoso Violin Concerto – a tapestry of sublime melodies by five Baroque masters fills the space of the Concertgebouw with cosmic beauty. This musical splendor is brought to life by top musicians from the Baroque scene, who perform these masterpieces with unparalleled mastery and refined expression – a unique opportunity to enjoy an evening full of depth, richness of color, and emotional resonance.
