From Baroque to Latin Jazz at the Pianola Museum

Pianist Jurre van Egteren plays a solo programme that begins with Baroque by Bach and ends with late Romanticism by Janáček. This combination shows how far piano music developed over the centuries. The Pianola Museum in Amsterdam forms a special setting for this programme.

Jurre van Egteren: classically trained, broadly oriented

Jurre van Egteren (1994) studied at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and completed his piano studies with a 10. Afterwards, he studied social anthropology at the University of Oxford. Later, he continued his studies at Codarts in Rotterdam, in both the classical and world music departments. He graduated cum laude.

Tango and Latin Jazz with Wim Warman

After the break, Jurre performs together with Wim Warman, tango maestro and lecturer at the World Music department of Codarts. The two musicians improvise on tango standards and classics from Latin Jazz. Wim Warman is known to many for his performances with Juan Tajes at the Pianola Museum.
