Thanasis Mavrokostas and Julio Ruiz and Agustín Diassera

The rhythmic Greek and Spanish feet of Thanasis Mavrokostas and Julio Ruiz attach themselves to this magnificent triad. Renowned percussionist Agustín Diassera connects the musical worlds with his subtle percussive rhythms.

La Lyra del Mar

It was not only merchandise that reached the ports in countries around the Mediterranean by ship; age-old Mediterranean musical traditions travelled along with it. The musical styles in countries such as Greece, Italy and Spain are related through their virtuosity and joy of playing, but at the same time are also very different. The starting point for this Greek-Italian-Spanish triad is the lyra, the pear-shaped Cretan knee fiddle, a descendant of the classical Byzantine lyra.
