Piano Duo Festival Amsterdam
After a year of hard work, the first festival took place at the Bethaniën Monastery near the Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam. Four days of concerts featuring young talent and well-known duos. There was classical music, jazz, and also concerts for children.
Everything in our own hands, from pouring coffee to picking up artists from Schiphol, checking tickets, and setting up the chairs. In addition to performing ourselves, the task of preparing the dressing rooms also fell to us. To say this was nerve-wracking is an understatement.
Now, 13 years later, the festival has grown into one of the most important piano duo festivals in the world. Famous duos have taken their place behind the grand pianos, such as the Silver-Garburg duo, the Jussen brothers, and other international artists.
During this festival, there is room for many original productions, and it is important to play for a broad audience: for babies, hospital patients, the elderly, people who have never heard classical music before, and for true lovers of piano duos.
