Mahler's Second Symphony , also known as 'Auferstehung', is one of the most impressive works in the symphonic repertoire. Mahler worked on it for six years. In his colossal work about death, redemption, and resurrection, stillness and outburst constantly alternate. The finale, in which choir and orchestra come together, depicts a victory over death and makes a profound impression.
