Hommage à Bach
The fact that Bach never wrote for the clarinet—it still had to be invented—has fortunately not stopped clarinetist Emirhan Tuğa from compiling a magnificent Bach program for his Trio Emerant, consisting of clarinet, cello, and piano. New transcriptions and arrangements give true Bach hits, such as Contrapunctus 1 from The Art of Fugue or Wachtet auf, ruft ons die Stimme, BWV 140, a new perspective. This special anniversary concert also features compositions by Poulenc, Kovács, Villa-Lobos, and his son Carl Philippe Emanuel, all of which reflect Bach's inspiration. And three hundred and forty-one years of inspiration is certainly time for a celebration!
Tuğa, originally from Turkey, lives in Amsterdam and, together with his musical friends Pratsinakis (GR) and Lievonen (FI), has formed Trio Emerant since 2024. The Hommage à Bach programme has already travelled through Turkey and the Netherlands and was recorded last year on the album 'Bach on the Clarinet' (2025).
