Discover unique sounds from Mali and Guinea
Guitari Baro, which means 'guitar conversations', draws inspiration from diverse musical styles such as jazz, Congolese rumba, and Cuban music. They blend these influences with elements from their own imagination, resulting in a unique sound. You hear a combination of fast runs, harmonious lines, hypnotic rhythms, and flowery patterns.
Experience the rich griot heritage and talented musicians
The members of Guitari Baro are descendants of griots, West African storytellers. The balafon, a traditional percussion instrument, is an integral part of this tradition. From the 1930s onwards, people began combining the balafon with the acoustic guitar, leading to the recognizable style of the Mandé region. Balafon player Lassana Diabaté, known for collaborations with illustrious artists, forms this special trio together with guitarists Gaoussou Kouyaté, Kerfala Diabaté, and Mamadou 'Petit Madou' Koussoube. Attend this performance for an exhilarating musical experience.
