Bana
Bana was seen as the male counterpart to that other Cape Verdean legend, Cesária Évora. Vocal talent Jèryh Luz puts her own spin on the songs, as does the energetic Cuban singer Daniel Monteja. A treat for lovers of both song and dance.
Viva Bana!
Viva Bana! is the name of the concert and the album being released simultaneously. CaboCubaJazz has frequently graced the stage at the Bimhuis with exhilarating Latin jazz. The international ensemble blends the melancholy of the Cape Verde Islands with Cuban rumba and salsa in an inimitable way, entirely in the adventurous spirit of jazz. After the concert, there is Salsa Panorama, the Cuban salsa party in the café.
Salsa Panorama
Salsa Panorama, organized by Salsa District, has become a tradition at the Bimhuis. Featuring Carlos Hechevarría trumpet, Pablo Martínez trombone, Carlos Matos piano, Mauro Méndez bass, Nils Fischer percussion, Leonid Muñoz drums, Jèryh Luz vocals, and Daniel Montejo vocals. 'A solidly grooving blend of exciting call-and-response vocals, sensual melodies, and soothing harmonies, brightened by strong arrangements and improvisations by and for brass' (de Volkskrant on CaboCubaJazz). 'Seductive, inspirational, passionate!' (Latin Beat Magazine).
