Soprano with a remarkable story
Sterre van Boxtel was admitted to the Amsterdam Conservatory at the age of 13, making her one of the youngest students ever. She is now on the verge of completing her studies. Van Boxtel is at home in a wide range of musical styles, from theatrically expressive to lyrical and intimate. She previously performed with Club Classique on television programs such as Superkids and Podium Klassiek , and contributed to a TEDx Talk in Alkmaar.
Works by Weill, Poulenc, and Strauss
The program revolves around three great composers of the 20th century. Van Boxtel sings the theatrical songs of Kurt Weill, five songs by Francis Poulenc, and works by Richard Strauss. In between, the program makes excursions into the Romantic era, which makes the concert extra varied.
Intimate interplay in the Buiksloterkerk
Van Boxtel performs with pianist Jana Schell, her regular musical partner. Schell not only provides technical accompaniment but also contributes substantively to the musical narrative. Their collaboration gives the concert an intimate and personal character. Are you interested? Use the link for tickets.
