Grachtenfestival: Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi - The Four Seasons

Vivaldi reinvented

In the closing concert of the Grachtenfestival, Four Seasons Recomposed by Max Richter will be performed. Richter took Antonio Vivaldi's famous The Four Seasons as a starting point and largely rewrote the work. He retains recognizable motifs but adds recurring patterns, new harmonies, and sharp contrasts. The result is a work in which Baroque music and Minimal music converge, with a cinematic character.

Young talents alongside experienced musicians

For this performance, experienced musicians stand side by side with young talent. Among them are a winner of the Royal Music Prize and students from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Violinist Lisa Jacobs leads the concert with her ensemble, The String Soloists. Jacobs has previously performed as a soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and worked with renowned conductors. The String Soloists perform without a conductor and are known for their direct, chamber music style.

STREET as a backdrop
