Organ and strings in the Round Lutheran Church
This concert brings organ and strings together in a remarkable dome church in Amsterdam. The program revolves around the music of Dvořák, supplemented by works by Kodály. Organist Maarten Wilmink opens with a solo version of * In der Natur *. This is followed by a movement from Kodály's Duo , and then an arrangement of the Largo from the Ninth Symphony .
Dvořák for small ensemble
The concert concludes with Dvořák's Bagatelles (Op. 47). Dvořák originally wrote these short pieces for two violins, cello, and harmonium, intended for intimate performances. In them, he combines lyrical melodies with influences from Czech folk music. An intimate and accessible work that is perfectly suited to the acoustics of the dome church.
Maarten Wilmink and the Sonoro Quartet
Maarten Wilmink has won several international organ competitions and has performed in Notre-Dame in Paris, among other venues. Since January 2026, he has been the titular organist of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Bavo in Haarlem. He performs with three string players from the Sonoro Quartet, which was selected by ECHO as Rising Stars (2023/24) and has played at the Concertgebouw, the Musikverein, and the Elbphilharmonie.
