New music by trumpeter Alistair Payne
After his debut album This Thread Walks (2024), trumpeter Alistair Payne asked himself an honest question: am I actually playing the music I want to listen to myself? Starting from that question, he began to dissect and renew musical patterns. He delved into songwriting from folk traditions, choral music, and ambient sound design. That process yielded compositions that are bolder, but also more accessible.
The band ALBOB
From this creative search emerged ALBOB, a new five-piece band with each member having their own distinct, recognizable sound. The music draws from the work of contemporary artists such as Mk.gee and James Blake, while simultaneously aligning with pioneers like Wayne Shorter. The result is a unique sound that defies categorization within a single genre.
